Following the note that was released today by the Joint SUG Forum of the state owned institutions across Oyo state concerning the upcoming protest which may likely come up in few days, they pleaded to cancel the protest.
It reads:
JOINT STUDENT UNION GOVERNMENT FORUM OF 6 OYO STATE OWNED TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS
It as come to our notice of an upcoming protest to address the almost 3 months old strike, which may come up on Tuesday, 16th January, 2018. The above named forum, hereby, wish to inform our fellow students (Graduates, Stallites & Fresher) across the 6 strike concerned institutions in Oyo State to please calm down and put off a mind of protest or demonstration for now.
Feasibly, we are approaching this issue with elitism because, we believe we are literate . Though, we strongly know that, our educational life is been endangered, and we need to liberate ourselves, nevertheless,
protest is not a right step to take presently . We need to efficiently use, the first of the 3 Cs, which is CONSULTATION and we believe it has been working. Let us know that, in any crisis, even WAR, only a round table talk brings SOLUTION.
However, if we our demands are not met at a time frame we set, we will surely use the language the Government understands. Thank you as you relief your articulate and sagacious mind.
We are POLYTES!!!
