This is to help graduates who are not able to calculate their Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), to know their stand after graduating. Calculating your CGPA is a very simple it only requires you to follow the steps and make sure you make no mistake as it is very important whenever you need to further in your education, or you want to seek for job.
Essentially, before you calculate your CGPA, you must first calculate your Grade Point Average (GPA) for each semester. How do you do this?
GPA for a semester is obtained by multiplying the appropriate grade point by the units of course and the products are added for all the courses. The total is divided by the total number of units of the course taken for that semester. Below is the level of performance to use when calculating GPA.
Percentage Letter/Grade Point Grade
75-100 A 5.00 Distinction
70-74 AB 4.50 Very Good
65-69 B 4.00 Very Good

55-59 C 3.00 Above Average
50-54 CD 2.50 Average
45-49 D 2.00 Fair
40-44 DE 1.50 Pass

CGPA can then be calculated by adding up the weighed grade points (GPA) for all the semesters. The total is divided by the total units offered for all semesters. The value is expressed to two decimal points. Every student are classified according to their CGPA and below is the classification of diploma;
CGPA Range Class

  1. Keep in mind that high schools use many different grading scales. Some use a 4.0 scale; some use a 5.0 scale; others use a 100 point scale. Some schools weight AP and honors classes; others don't. And some schools grade easier than others. A 4.0 might be phenomenal at one school, but only average at another. Colleges understand that, which is why your GPA by itself doesn't really tell them anything. They evaluate your transcript in the context of your school, using the High School Profile that your counselor sends them. Find out more: calculator-online.net
